Katie presenting at the International Neuropsychological Society conference in Seattle, WA

Katie was accepted to the James A. Haley Veterans Affairs Hospital (JAHVH) in Tampa, FL for a specialty track internship in neuropsychology. She spent the first half of her internship completing neuropsychological evaluations for adult and geriatric veterans with impaired cognitive functioning secondary to dementias, pre-dementia syndromes, medical conditions, stroke, movement disorders, and various psychological disorders. She also trained under the supervision of Heather Belanger, PhD, ABPP-CN, at a VA Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center, conducting bedside neurobehavioral evaluations and consulting with an interdisciplinary team to provide rehabilitation services for veterans and active duty service members with moderate and severe TBI. In February, she presented two posters at the International Neuropsychological Society conference in Seattle, WA, examining the development of chronic pain in relation to OEF/OIF pre-deployment factors (e.g., mTBI, trauma) and deployment-related traumas/injuries (e.g., trauma, blast exposure, mTBI), and their relationships with psychological outcomes (e.g., PTSD, Depression). Katie entered the APPCN match for postdoctoral candidates, and will be completing a 2-year Clinical Neuropsychology Fellowship at JAHVH in Tampa, FL, beginning in September.
