We study how fluids move small things around our world! More specifically, we study transport in multiphase flows with an emphasis on cohesive and biological particles (e.g. marine phytoplankton). The Rau Lab is based in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at the George Washington University, but we are an incredibly interdisciplinary group with ongoing research involving fluid mechanics, interfacial physics, materials, biology, and oceanography. We love field work and use lab experiments when we can to fill in critical knowledge gaps. Check out the rest of this webpage for ongoing research and feel free to reach out to Dr. Rau for more info.
