Himmelfarb Information Portal

If you like the convenience and ease of searching Google and Google Scholar, but are concerned about the quality and availability of results retrieved, Himmelfarb Library may have a solution. Himmelfarb Information Portal is a new search tool that will replace the multidatabase search on the Library's homepage starting the week of July 1st. You can use HIP to enter keyword searches and retrieve health sciences-focused content that is in Himmelfarb's collections. This includes full-text access to most of Himmelfarb's electronic resources, and records from the Library Catalog to locate print and multi-media resources.

HIP will be available as a pilot project throughout the upcoming academic year and we will be evaluating and fine-tuning it as the year progresses. Visit the Himmelfarb Information Portal FAQ for more information about HIP and use the feedback form to share your comments or get answers to questions.

Due to construction related to the CO6 Project and updates to Library facilities, effective July 1st and running through August 3rd, 2012, the Himmelfarb Library will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 11:00 pm.

The Library will be completely closed on July 1st, July 4th, July 7th-8th and July 14th-15th.

On July 21st-22nd and July 28th-29th, only the third floor of the Library will be open for use. There may still be construction noise during this time.

The B1 level of the Library will remain closed from June 25th until August 3rd. Staff will be available to pull books from the B1 level during all hours that the Library is open.

To help users during this time, Hospital rooms 6106, 6108, 6111, and 6117 have been reserved for quiet study on July 1st, 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th and 29th. There will be reference assistance available every Saturday and Sunday in July in the 6th Floor Computer Lab from noon until 4:00 pm. All electronic resources will remain available during reduced hours and closures. Please e-mail the Library at himmelfarb@gwu.edu with any questions. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Due to construction related to the CO6 Project and updates to library flooring, the B1 Level of Himmelfarb Library will be closed from June 25th through mid-August to patrons. Library staff will be ready to assist you by pulling any books you need from the stacks. The T1-4 group study rooms will be unavailable for use.

It is possible that there will be weekend closures of the entire Library as construction moves forward. Please check back to these pages for updates. We will make every effort to keep you updated and to assist you as you study and research throughout the summer.

Create your own group study space on the first floor of Himmelfarb Library!

Himmelfarb Library has recently acquired two moveable partitions with whiteboards for use by our patrons. These partitions can be configured around a study table or group of chairs to create a semi-private group study space on the first floor. Dry erase markers and erasers can be checked out at the Circulation Desk for use with the partitions/white boards.

Feel free to move the partitions around on the first floor to meet your group study needs!Portable study space
