Construction Update

Himmelfarb Library will remain open on a 24/7 schedule throughout Ross Hall construction.  Earplugs are available at the Circulation Desk. Check our webpage  for any updates to hours or services.

The B1 level will be closed the weekend of September 15-16. Library staff will be on hand to assist you should you need items from that level.

Additional space for quiet study is available at the following locations:

  • The Burns Law Library for evening and weekend study for students in the Schools of Medicine and Health Sciences, Public Health and Health Services, and Nursing for quiet study only. There is no network or computer access as the Law School is on a separate network for wireless and database use. Contact J. Marie Miller at jporter@gwu.edu to inquire about passes. All passes expire on December 1, 2012.
  • The Gelman Library which is open to all University students on a first-come, first served basis. Early morning studiers may want to consider using Gelman Library in the mornings when space is readily available. Please note that Gelman Library is undergoing renovations and there may be some noise during the day. The complete fall 2012 schedule is available at http://library.gwu.edu/about/facilities/hours#building.
  • Small group rooms on the 6th floor of the GW Hospital which are generally available for quiet study after 8pm weeknights. During September, October, and November, hospital rooms 6106, 6108, and 6111 are reserved for quiet study on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Classrooms in Ross Hall which are available for quiet study when not scheduled.
