SOAS

This is my school here in London- The School for Oriental and African Affairs. I took this picture on a classic London day, pretty grey and rainy outside. My university has become a huge part of my community, including the teachers and students inside it. I am really enjoying my classes here and I feel that I am learning a lot, especially about international affairs from another country’s perspective. This is also where students line up on campus every day to receive free lunch from the local Hare Krishna group, which makes it a great spot to socialize with other people.

GW Friends

These are some of my friends from home who have also come on GW England programs. This is a picture of us on one of the organized trips that GW plans for us- with the help of our coordinator, Geeta. We have so much fun on these trips and I love seeing familiar faces every couple of weeks to catch up about our new adventures and reminisce about life at GW. This trip to the London eye was a great day as we lucked out with some sun and had a huge lunch of dim sum right afterwards. These trips have become a huge part of my community here in England and I always look forward to them. Thank you Geeta!

Coffeeworks Project

This is a picture of the food at my favourite local café and study spot- The Coffeeworks Project. It is located in an area very close to me called Angel, which is filled with cute boutiques and really nice restaurants. I love walking over here on Sundays to get some homework done and to relax. The entire area of Angel has quickly become one of my favorites here in London and I often take walks around on nice days.

Park

This is a picture of a park (and partial graveyard) that I walk through every day on my way to class. I love that there are little parks such as this one dotted all over London, they make for a nice break from the busy city. I usually walk to class with some friends and I always run into someone that I recognize on my way there or back. It is also a great way to experience my community and walk past all of the other people that live around me, going about their days.

Scotland

This is a picture from a trip to Scotland that I took. One of the girls, Bethany, is on GW England- SOAS along with me and the two other girls are new friends that I made on the trip. This is one of the biggest differences in my new city and community; I have made a lot of new friends and have had the opportunity to travel to amazing places. The fact that somewhere as beautiful and different as the Scotland Highlands is only a few hour train ride away from the bustling city of London is amazing and I love that I am able to see so many different parts of the United Kingdom.
