Chile’s National Day of Heritage

By kbartz34

My family and I woke-up early this morning to tour some of the local castles and palaces that line the Chilean Coastline. In celebration of Patrimony Day, all public buildings that are normally privatized are open for tours. What neat insight into Chilean history and contemporary politics!

National Seal
The Chilean national seal is on every piece of dinnerware in the president's palace.

With a view
Down the hill from the president's palace resides this small castle.
Police Castle
Slightly ironic, but the Chilean police have their very own, fully functioning castle.
Looking glass to the past
Mounted inside of one of the castles, this stained glass picture depicts what daily happenings used to look like when the castle was first built .
Bomberos
One of the municipality's oldest firetrucks helped maintain order outside of the president's palace.
