Vesailes College

By aubreygunnels

We toured our school, Vesailes College, today. It is a small school of approximately 300 students where all the classes are taught in English. It specializes in business, communication, and international affairs. Nearly half the student population are study abroad students from around the world. The students come from various programs affiliated with Vesailes College (VeCo for short) such as CIEE and ISEP. The teacher to student ratio is very low. My classes will have at most 30 students in them.

The college is affiliated with a neighboring school VUB. It is a Belgian school and classes are taught in Dutch and French. VeCo students are encouraged to take classes at VUB if their French or Dutch are advanced. Along with classes, VeCo students also use many of the VUB facilities like the student gym, library, copy building, cafeteria, and other study spaces.

VeCo has clubs and events put on by the student government. The study abroad group is also represented in the student government. Myself and another CIEE student were chosen by our group to represent the study  abroad student body. We will being planning the soccer games, debates, and various other events the student government puts on during the school year.
