Continuous Enrollment Request
A comprehensive examination is a requirement for the Master of Education and Human Development from the Graduate School of Education. Most students take the comprehensive exam during their final semester of course work. Students may choose to take the comprehensive examination the semester after having completed their course work. This option is available to students who wish to take additional time to prepare for the exam. If you choose to take the exam while not enrolled in courses, you must register for Continuous Enrollment by completing the request form below. Students should indicate "Comprehensive Exam" as reason for Continuous Enrollment.
Important: To avoid late fees, students must register for a Continuous Enrollment within the regular course registration period.

Leave of Absence Request
A student who for personal reasons, is temporarily unable to continue his or her program of studies during the Spring or Fall semester, may request a leave of absence for a specific period of time, not to exceed one calendar year during the degree candidacy. Students do not need to register for a leave of absence if not enrolling in coursework during the summer session.
Important: To avoid late fees, students must register for a Leave of Absence within the regular course registration period.

Registration Transaction Form
Most registration transactions (course add or drop) can be conducted online via GWEB. If a student finds it necessary to make any adjustments to his/her course schedule after the Web registration period has ended, a Registration Transaction Form is required.

Incomplete Contract
If the instructor agrees to assign the student an “I”, an Incomplete Contract must be completed and signed by both the student and the course instructor. The contract will outline all remaining assignments due and the date by which these assignments must be submitted to the course instructor. The coursework must be completed within the designated time period agreed upon by the instructor and student, but no more than one calendar year from the end of the semester in which the course was taken. If the work is not completed within the designated time, the grade will automatically be converted to an “F”, Failure, 0 quality points, and the grade point average and academic standing re-calculated. Transfer Credits / Program Plan Change Form
In general, a maximum of 12 credit hours taken in non-degree status at GW or another accredited university may be credited towards a master's degree program once admitted A. maximum of 3 credit hours taken in non-degree status at GW or another accredited university may be credited towards a graduate certificate program once admitted. See also the GSEHD Maters and Certificate Student Handbook (above) for additional information about transfer credit.
Procedurally, accepted students make a formal request to the ETL Program Director via email that includes:
- What course(s) you wishes to transfer.
- Course syllabus for each course.
- Legible transcripts from accredited institution for which they took coursework.
- Which ETL course(s), if any, you wish consideration for this course to take the place of.
Once approved by the ETL Program Director, and/or other ETL faculty members, the student needs to complete and send a Program Plan Change Request Form to the ETL Director to sign and submit.
We do not review transcripts/requests from prospective students.

General:
DegreeMAP: DegreeMAP provides students with the ability to monitor their progress toward degree or certificate and review outstanding requirements. DegreeMAP is accessed through the GWeb Information System: Student Records & Registration → Student Records Information Menu → DegreeMAP.
GWEB Features: Students can use GWeb to update address and telephone, view any "holds", and display grades.
Transcripts: Students who would like to order either an official or unofficial transcript refer to: GW Office of the Registrar-Transcripts.
