IIEP and its faculty specialize in the study of international development, understanding low and middle-income countries’ economic development around the world. IIEP and its faculty publish books, working papers, articles, and op-eds on global health economics, urban issues, sustainability, nongovernmental organizations, labor markets, nutrition, gender, inequality, infrastructure, geography, and natural resources. We also host a variety of events, workshops, and seminars where policymakers and academics can share their research. This includes an ongoing Viewing Multidimensional Poverty From Many Angles Multidimensional Poverty Seminar Series with the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Human Development Report Office (HDRO) and IIEP’s Facing Inequality series which focuses on current and emerging inequality issues in the U.S. and around the globe, especially those revealed by the current COVID-19 pandemic. IIEP has also had the honor of hosting Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus to share his work and insights into combating poverty through microlending.
