Teaching

I have been involved in university teaching since 1979, when I first arrived at graduate school.  Since then, I've taught basic courses in calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, proofs and problem solving, combinatorics, graph theory, number theory, abstract algebra, differential geometry, real analysis, complex analysis, measure theory and integration, and ergodic theory.  In addition, I've taught a course in math and politics, for which I've written the textbook with my colleague Robbie Robinson.

I've also taught seminars for first-year undergraduates on the topic of math and music and also on the topic of Douglas Hofstadter's "Gödel, Escher, Bach".
