Career Milestones for 2023

Banner Image

The Division of Safety & Facilities has an outstanding track record of retaining employees for years and we can’t tell you how appreciative we are of all the folks who have stuck by GW through thick and thin. Please take a moment to check out all the people who are celebrating Career Milestones in 2023. If you see your name on the list, congratulations! And you should have received an invitation in your email from Greenvelope to a special reception in your honor! RSVPs are due November 8th. Please contact your manager if you need assistance with RSVPing. Details for the events are below.

For those celebrating 20+ years at GW
November 28th 12pm to 2pm
City View Room at 1957 E St.

For those celebrating 5 to 15 years at GW
November 29th 12pm to 2pm
City View Room at 1957 E St.

We’d also like to take a moment to recognize two employees in particular who spent significant portions of their careers with GW. Kather White (40 years) and Raymond Perry (15 years) sadly both passed away earlier this year. We’ll always appreciate their contributions to the university and we hope you’ll join us in remembering the time we got to spend with them.

DSF: Here’s an opportunity to learn about our brand new President, Ellen M. Granberg, from her own point of view. Learn more about her professional journey in academia and industry, her early impressions and discussions with the GW community, and what leadership means to her at this pivotal moment in higher education. Dean Anuj Mehrotra will serve as moderator. Registration is required to attend.

  • Wednesday, September 6
  • 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. EDT
  • Jack Morton Auditorium

DSF Field Trip to Nats Park

DSF went out to the ol’ ball game this past Tuesday after giving away about 50 tickets to staff. A fun time was had by all despite the Nationals’ on-field performance (they lost 5-4). Thanks to those who stopped by to enjoy a night outdoors before move-in got into full swing!

GW George cheers on Nats George as he crosses the finish line to win the presidents race.

Student Staff Appreciation BBQ

Last Thursday, the student staff at Facilities Central were treated to a special appreciation BBQ hosted by Dionne Thomas and FBG. The event was filled with laughs, good food, and games. Their dedication to their zones this summer did not go unnoticed, and Dionne and Harold Speed both took a moment to say a few words of thanks. We appreciate the student staff and all they have done and continue to do as we prepare for move-in.

Event: Using GW Tuition Benefits

Have a Junior or Senior High School Student?

Learn How to Use GW Tuition Benefits! For those of you with rising high school juniors or seniors in your household, you may be having conversations at home about college and next steps. DSF has partnered with Benefits, Admissions, and Financial Aid to assist you in learning more about how your student can attend GW or another institution using your GW Benefits.  You and your student are invited to attend an in-person question and answer event arranged especially for us. You can also hear from colleagues who have used the benefit and how they navigated the process.

  • Thursday, August 24 at 11am
  • Support Building Room 211

Managers and supervisors, please make sure to mention this opportunity to your staff and give them the details above! Questions can be directed to Rose Dunnegan. We look forward to seeing you there!

Join DSF at Nats Park!

Have you heard? DSF is on its way to see the Nats next month. FPCM, ABM, BIG, GWorld, and Resilience teamed up to give away two tickets to 23 lucky people. If you weren’t one of the folks who had fortune shine on them when we spun the wheel during All Hands, don’t worry! You can still participate.

Tickets are available for purchase and you can request to join us in section 141. FPCM AVP Baxter Goodly already has his! Come early to make sure you get a snazzy (and FREE) GW and Nats branded quarter-zip in your size. We hope to see you there!

And congrats to the winners below!
