Faculty CAN: International Partnerships–A Prime Example

This CAN event took place on April 21, 2015.

Faculty CAN: International Partnerships--A Prime Example

Focus Theme:       International Partnerships--A Prime Example

Special Guests:    Bill Briscoe, Evie Downie, and Raluca Teodorescu

Event Description:  It is with pleasure that we invite you to our second Faculty Coffee and Networking (Faculty CAN) session related to international partnerships. You will recall that our first Faculty CAN featured Associate Provost for International Programs Donna Scarboro. This time around, we are focusing on examples of good partnerships that faculty can use to help them visualize possible partnerships of their own. Some of the possible discussion points will be:

  • how the partnership was conceived
  • steps to getting to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
  • involvement of students
  • funding sources
  • best practices
  • obstacles

Their presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.

Our panelists are:

Professors Bill Briscoe (Principal Investigator), Evie Downie (co-Principal Investigator) and Raluca Teodorescu (co Principal Investigator). All three work at the GW Center for Nuclear Studies in partnership with Johannes Gutenberg in Mainz. Germany. While their partnership is in physics, the Faculty CAN discussion is structured so that if you are in the humanities or the social sciences you can also benefit from the example.

This event is organized and sponsored by the CCAS Committee for International Partnerships.
