CCAS is embarking on a series of new initiatives with your research and teaching interests in mind. One of the ways that we are sharing information is through the Faculty Coffee And Networking (Faculty CAN).

Are you curious about how Humanities faculty can get involved in cross-disciplinary funded research? As a humanities faculty member, have you been wondering what it's like to work on projects with faculty from GW outside of CCAS? Do you have an idea for a multi-university project or a project that would benefit from including other institutions? Do you want to tackle interdisciplinary global problems but aren't sure how to find collaborators? If any of these circumstances describe you, join us for lunch at the Faculty CAN on March 6, 2015, 12:00-1:30.

Our panelists are:

• Nadia Volchansky, Interior Architecture & Design, who has worked on the collaborative New Dawn clinic in Haiti, and more recently a sustainable development project in Cape Town will talk about Design Thinking and human-centered design as a transdisciplinary practice.
• Tad Zawidzki, Philosophy, who has worked on mind-brain issues and developed a mental wellness and mental health collaborative as co-organizer of a University Seminar with faculty from the School of Medicine, Psychiatry, Psychology, Pharmacology and local therapists. Tad was awarded a GW Research Enhancement Fund grant for the Mind/Brain/Evolution Cluster, 2008-2011 as principal author of the proposal.
• Margaret Gonglewski, German, is currently acting as Business Languages Coordinator for GW’s Center for Business Education and Research CIBER, funded by a large grant for the U.S. Department of Education.
