  • The painting consists of petal-like shapes, bursting from one place near but not at the center of the canvas. It looks as though the shapes are emerging from an unfinished painting underneath, pieces of which are still visible at the edges of the canvas. Prominent colors include ultramarine blue, alizarin crimson, cadmium yellow, and viridian green. The primary medium is heavy oil paint, with whimsical applications of crepe paper, textured gold ribbon, and small snippets of gold foil that lend a sense of movement when light hits the piece.
