Housing

The Autism Housing Network (AHN) is a community-based organization that consolidates resources and housing opportunities from its users. It has a housing directory, housing guide, resources, and education. They also provide consultation services.

The Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) has a guide for obtaining community-based housing. The guide includes important definitions, the autistic people's living situations, types of housing and policies, and steps to get better housing.

Independent living is beneficial for increasing self-sufficiency, independence, and inclusion of autistic individuals. Independent living programs are funded by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and can be found through Centers for Independent Living programs (CILs). While these programs are for all people with disabilities, they can be a valuable resource for autistic people as well. The Independent Living Research Unit (ILRU) has a directory of CILs by location, including statewide programs.
