British Embassy Open House Day: Saturday 12 May 2018, 10:00am – 4:00pm
On 12 May, the British Embassy will, for the eleventh year in a row, open its doors to the public on European Open House Day.
We usually attract around 10,000 visitors – making us one of the most popular embassy on the day, and this year will provide another excellent opportunity for the Embassy to showcase the Residence Gardens; feature our bazaar highlighting British heritage, business and trade; and include activities linked to British culture, food and drink.
With the amount of interest and activities planned, volunteers are always sorely needed to ensure the day runs smoothly. Therefore, the Embassy is putting out an open call for student volunteers from local universities to assist us in staging our Open House Day event. Serving as a volunteer provides an excellent opportunity for students to meet and work alongside British diplomats, to learn about the work that we do, and to see first-hand how the British Government puts Public Diplomacy in action not only to showcase the best that the UK has to offer, but to highlight our special bond with the people of the United States.
The Embassy is looking for volunteers to assist us at the following times: 830am-1:00pm,12:30pm-5:00pm, and ALL DAY (08:30am-5:00pm). Volunteers will be provided with a free embassy t-shirt, while those who work the full day will be provided with a t-shirt and free lunch courtesy of the embassy.
If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to the British Embassy’s Head of Youth Engagement, Josh Stanton at Joshua.stanton@fco.gov.uk to indicate your interest in volunteering and your availability from the three options listed above.
