The Graduate Advising team welcomes all new students to the Elliott School! We've put together helpful information to help you prepare for your career as a graduate student before you even set foot on campus this fall.

  • 19thandE.com is an advising blog run by Elliott School graduate advisors. We post information on course offerings, internship opportunities, calls for research, conferences, opportunities to get involved on campus, student spotlights, and much more. We encourage you to follow our blog and like us on facebook to stay in the know.
  • If you're not sure how to get started, visit the New Students page where you'll find helpful tips on setting up your GW Email account, planning your studies, and registering for courses.
  • Log on to Blackboard and complete the GW First Class module, the online portion of new student orientation. If you don't see the course listed, give it some time-- since the course is only available to incoming Elliott School students, it may take up to one week for the course to appear after you've established your NetID.

Still have questions? Contact an academic advisor.

  • May 1- June 15 (Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:00am- 4:00pm): Chat with an advisor online to get quick answers to your general questions. The chat is accessible on the homepage of this blog, or on the New Students page.
  • Beginning June 15, you can schedule an in-person or phone appointment with your assigned advisor or email your assigned advisor directly. You can also chat with an advisor during regular Online Advising hours (Tuesdays 11:00am- 1:00pm).

Be sure to check back for upcoming posts throughout the summer:

  • Introducing Fall 2015 Orientation Leaders: Get to know current Elliott School students that have been selected to represent their programs at orientation in August.
