Position Description: Program Assistant, Part-Time

The GW School of Business (SB) seeks a graduate student to work part-time in the Office of Global & Experiential Education to assist with international education and experiential learning initiatives. The three main areas where assistance would be required are organizing international study programs, supporting international students, and marketing international education opportunities in the School. We seek to capitalize on the unique strengths and interests of the individual; exact primary responsibilities may be tailored to the program assistant’s skill set and goals.

Primary Responsibilities May Include but are not Limited to the Following:
•    Assist with processing of student applications to overseas and domestic study programs using the StudioAbroad platform and other complimentary technologies;
•    Conduct market basket research on best practices in business education abroad, experiential learning, and international student services;
•    Assist in development and maintenance of content for International Education and Programs website;
•    Ad hoc assistance for international student support initiatives;
•    Respond to emails and inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and community members;
•    Provide other administrative support as needed.

Required  Qualifications:
•    Be extremely organized, flexible, and creative, with strong writing skills
•    Be a self-starter, have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
•    Have interest in program development, student support services, and student programming
•    Maintain a high regard for service and confidentiality, which includes signing a confidentiality policy
•    Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Preferred  Qualifications:
•    Be a GW graduate student in International Education, Higher Education Administration, International Affairs, or a related field.
•    Have experience studying, working, and/or living outside of the U.S.
•    Have experience in a professional office environment.
•    Have experience working with graduate or professional students.

20 hours per week, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; some evening or weekend work may be required. Potential for academic internship. Compensation: $15 per hour. The ideal candidate will be able to commit through summer 2014 with the possibility of rehire for the 2014-2015 academic year.
