As July comes to an end, it’s time to think about what August has in store for you—starting with New Graduate Student Orientation for Elliott School students starting master’s programs in Fall 2013!
If you are an incoming Fall 2013 Elliott School graduate student, an e-mail was sent to your GWU e-mail account to alert you that GW First Class for Elliott School graduate students is now available on Blackboard. This online tutorial is a self-paced learning experience designed to provide you with information and guidance as you prepare for orientation and your graduate career at the Elliott School.
In addition to hosting the registration survey for New Graduate Student Orientation, GW First Class will provide you with information on the following topics:

- Advising Syllabus
- Graduate Student Ambassadors (GSAs)
- Curriculum
- Plan of Study
- DegreeMAP
- International Education (Study Abroad)
- Graduate Student Career Development
- Review Questions
- Surveys (RSVP here for Orientation)

- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
To complete GW First Class:
- Go to My.GWU.edu
- Click on Blackboard on the left hand navigation
bar - Login to Blackboard using your NetID
and password - Select GW First Class from your Course List
- Click the tabs on the left hand navigation bar
- Read through all of the material thoroughly
- Complete the Review questions at the end
- Click the Survey tab to find the link to RSVP

*Your space at orientation is not guaranteed unless you RSVP. The system does not send out confirmation emails. The fastest way to check if you already submitted the survey to RSVP for orientation is to click on the survey link again. If you have completed the survey you will see a message alerting you to this fact. Closer to the date of orientation more details about the event will be emailed to students who RSVP'd yes.
