Yuriy Yuriychuk was a visiting scholar from Ukraine during the 2004-2005 academic year at The George Washington University. His visit was sponsored by the Junior Faculty Development Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. His mentor at GWU was Professor James Goldgeier.

Yuriy was born on the 7th of December, 1974, in Volyn’ region, Ukraine. He finished Chernivtsi National University with honors in 1997. That year he began his PhD program in the same university. The theme of his PhD dissertation was “Nationalism in the Social-Political Life of Czechoslovakia: 1989 to mid1990s.” His major is Political Science and Contemporary History. He is also interested in archeology and ancient history.
