Yamashiro Hideichi was a visiting research professor in the Department of Management Science of The George Washington University in 2004-2005. Professor Charles Toftoy of GWU worked with him on his research.Yamashiro Hideichi has been a Professor in the College of Law, Nihon University in Japan since April 1989. He is in charge of the subjects of economics, money and banking.

During his stay in the US, he did research on the federal credit programs of the United States. Especially, he was interested in the Small Business Administration (SBA) as a governmental agency, the activities of SBA, and how it finances small business.

He has recently published papers on small business finance including:
