During the 2000-2001 academic year, Oleksandr Melnychenko was a visiting research professor at The George Washington University, affiliated with the Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning. His stay in the USA was supported by the Junior Faculty Development Program, which is funded by the U.S.Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. His mentor at GW was Professor Stuart Umpleby.

Oleksandr Melnychenko is a professor at the Kherson State Technical University, Kherson, Ukraine. He teaches the following courses: “Technical Systems Theory”, “Introduction to Information Technology”, “Introduction to Programming with Lisp”, and “Computer Aided Design Fundamentals”. His research interests lie in the field of the Philosophy of Science and Technology with emphasis on Information Technology.

Oleksandr Melnychenko graduated from Kherson State Technical University, Kherson, Ukraine, with a specialty in Mechanical Engineering in 1983. In 1986 he obtained a diploma in Ergonomics from the Moscow Aviation Institute, Moscow, Russia.
