During the fall 2002 Zhanar Rakhimzhanova was a visiting research professor at The George Washington University, affiliated with the Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning. Her stay in the USA was supported by the Educational Network (EdNet), which is funded by USAID. Her mentor at GW was Professor Stuart Umpleby.

Zhanar Rakhimzhanova is a professor at the International Academy of Business in Almaty, Kazakhstan. She teaches the course, Introduction to Macroeconomics. Her research interests include: macroeconomic policy, financing of education, management in education and quality assessment of education. Zhanar Rakhimzhanova received a Masters Degree in Philosophy from Kazakh State University in 1991 and a Masters Degree in Economics from Almaty Economics University in 2001
