During the 2000-2001 academic year, Nino Okribelashvili was a visiting research professor at The George Washington University, affiliated with the Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning. Her stay in the USA was supported by the Junior Faculty Development Program, which is funded by the U.S.Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars. Her mentor at GW was Professor David Reiss.

Dr. Nino Okribelashvili is the Director by Scientific Part at Research Institute of Psychiatry and an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Medical Psychology at Tbilisi State University in Georgia. She teaches courses in Psychiatry and Medical Psychology. Her research interests cover the issues of Social Psychiatry, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Psychopharmacology, organization of postgraduate education.

Dr. Nino Okribelashvili received the degree of Doctor of Science from State Medical University in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1999, and the degree of Ph.D. (1990) from State Medical Institute in Tbilisi, Georgia. She attended International Training Seminar on Rehabilitation of Torture Survivors (1996) at RCT/IRCT in Copenhagen, Denmark; Salzburg-Cornell Seminar on Psychiatry (1997) at AAF-OSI in Salzburg, Austria and received the certificates in psychiatry.

Dr. Nino Okribelashvili is Board Member, Georgian National Mental Health Association; Board Member, Georgian Society of Psychiatrists; Member, Expert Panel, Ministry of Health of Georgia; Member, International Organization for Traumatic Stress Studies.
