During the 2002-2003 academic year, Farida Alimova was a visiting research professor at The George Washington University, affiliated with the Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning and the Department of Tourism Studies. Her stay in the USA was supported by the Junior Faculty Development Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Farida Alimova engaged in post-doctoral research at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent. From 1991-2002 Farida worked at the International Tourism Department of the Tashkent State Economic University, where she developed and taught the courses: Economics of Tourism, Essentials of Tourism, Restaurant Management,  and Marketing of International Tourism.

During the 1997-1998 academic year Farida Alimova was a Fulbright Scholar affiliated with The School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management at the University of Denver. In March 1998 she presented a public lecture on  “Tourism Development in Uzbekistan” at Oklahoma State University. In July-August 1999 she attended the Summer University course at the Central European University in Hungary.

From 1978 to 1988 Farida Alimova worked at the Uzbek Office of Scientific Research, Institute of Labor in the Productivity of Labor Department as an economist, where she analyzed the financial and economic activities of enterprises. And during 1988-1991 she worked at the Training and Professional Development Department at the Uzbek Office of Scientific Research, Institute of Labor as a scientific collaborator, where she conducted research and wrote scientific reports for the USSR Ministry of Labor (Moscow).

In 1978 Farida Alimova graduated with honors from Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry in the Industrial Economy field. In 1980 she enrolled in the Institute of Economics of the UzSSR Academy of Science in Tashkent to apply for a Ph.D. degree. From 1982-1984 she was affiliated with the Labor Relations Department at the Economics Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow to work on her research paper. In 1988 she defended her dissertation and earned a Ph.D. Diploma in Labor Relations. She has published 26 papers in Russian, Uzbek and English.
