During the 2001-2002 academic year, Bohdan Shumylovych was a visiting research professor at The George Washington University, affiliated with the Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning. His stay in the USA was supported by the Junior Faculty Development Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Bohdan Shumylovych is a lecturer in the History and Theory of Art Department at Lviv Academy of Arts, Ukraine. He teaches the course “Introduction to the History of Ukrainian Art”, seminars in “Sociology of Artistic Culture”, and advanced seminars in “Celtic Culture”. His research interests include: investigation of structural principles of artistic culture, main features of primitive art, history of ancient art, history and principles of American museums, and a “Cultural Anthropology” course.

Bohdan Shumylovych graduated from Lviv Academy of Arts, Department of History and Theory of Art and received his Masters Degree there. As a JFDP fellow he completed an Intensive English Language and American Culture course under the auspices of the American Councils for International Education in Moldova (Chishinau, July 2001).
