Mr. Otabek Hasanov was a visiting scholar at The George Washington University Law School during the 2004-2005 academic year. He was sponsored by the Junior Faculty Development Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. At GWU he was associated with the Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning. His mentor was Ms. Susan L. Karamanian, Associate Dean for International and Comparative Legal Studies at GWU.

Mr. Hasanov is a PhD candidate and an instructor of International Law at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Before coming to GWU, he worked for the UNODC Regional Office for Central Asia as a junior researcher, 2003. Mr. Hasanov has Masters and Bachelors of International Law Diplomas with Honors from UWED. He was a winner of the “UN University for Peace Scholarship 2003 in Budapest, Hungary” and the “OSCE Academy Scholarship 2004 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan”. In April 2003, he visited the UN Mission in Kosovo and the OSCE Headquarters in Vienna for research.

Mr. Hasanov’s research interests lie in “Security Studies in Central Asia”, “International Law”, “Law of International Organizations” and “Conflict Management in Central Asia”.
