During the 1996-1997 academic year, Vera Gushchina was a visiting research professor at The George Washington University, affiliated with the Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning. Her stay in the USA was supported by the Junior Faculty Development Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Her mentor at GW was Professor Stuart Umpleby.

Vera Gushchina is the Chair of the Cultural Studies Department at the Voronezh State University. She received her degree in philosophy. Her research focused on the cross-cultural study of work-related values and on business ethics in Russia, their history and future. 

She received her degrees from the Voronezh State University and from Moscow State University. She participated in a Summer Institute in the US.
