Travel

This conference has been postponed due to the COVID-19 situation! The organizers are considering new dates for the conference in 2021.

The conference will take place at the Foggy Bottom campus of the George Washington University. The first three days (June 23-25) will be at the Jack Morton Auditorium, housed in the Media and Public Affairs Building (805 21st Street NW). The fourth day (June 26) will be across the street, in various rooms of the historic Corcoran Hall (725 21st Street NW).

Driving in the center of DC can be quite challenging, and car parking is very expensive. Therefore, using public transport, a taxi, or ride sharing services such as Uber or Lyft, are recommended if the destination is further away than walking distance. Schedules and details for the metro and bus systems can be found on the WMATA website. There are several hotels on or nearby the university campus, or only a short metro ride away from the Foggy Bottom station.

Travel to DC

There are multiple ways to reach the George Washington University and hotels in the area. There are three major airports to choose from: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI). DCA is the closest airport to the university (less than a 15 minute metro from the university campus), but flight costs can sometimes be reduced by flying into the IAD or BWI airports.

The easiest method of transport from DCA is to take the blue line metro (direction Largo) from the station in the airport to the Foggy Bottom station. It is of course also possible to take a taxi, ride sharing services, or an airport shuttle service such as SuperShuttle or SupremeShuttle.

There are multiple methods of transportation from IAD to DC. The most convenient are a taxi, ride sharing service or airport shuttle service. The cheapest option is to take the Silver Line Express bus from IAD to Wiehle Reston East, and from there the silver line metro to the Foggy Bottom station.

The most efficient method of travel from BWI to DC is taking the free shuttle bus from the terminal to the MARC/Amtrak station. From there, take the Amtrak or MARC train to Union Station, followed by the red line (direction Shady Grove) metro to Metro Center, and then the orange (Vienna), blue (Franconia Springfield) or silver (Wiehle Reston East) line to Foggy Bottom.
